Weymouth Harbour boasts an impressive number of water-borne activities.
For the less adventurous there are some excellent boat trips around Weymouth Bay, Portland Harbour and further on down the renowned World Heritage Coast. There is even a glass bottomed boat experience! Adrenalin junkies can take an exciting white water ride in Portland’s infamous tidal race, or perhaps a speedboat ride out in Weymouth Bay!
For those who want to get closer to nature, the port is home to one of the most famous sea angling and diving charter boat fleets in the UK. The waters off Portland Bill and Lyme Bay are littered with shipwrecks, each with its own tragic story. Today, they provide a playground for deep-sea anglers and suitably qualified sport divers.
Anglers and divers are catered for ashore as well with habourside angling and dive shops.
If none of these things appeal, then visitors can take part in that most relaxing of pastimes, people watching. Watch the commercial fishing vessels unloading their catches of crab, lobster or sea bass, much of which is caught in or around the Portland Race, or just relax and watch the constant coming and going of boats of all types and sizes.
