The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh arrived in Weymouth today under blue skies and in glorious sunshine. After visiting the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, the royal couple boarded a yacht for the short trip to Weymouth harbour where they were met by a cheeering crowd of onlookers.

They then stopped at Weymouth beach to view a sand model of Windsor Castle and to meet local schoolchildren.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will also visit Bovington Tank Museum where they will officially open a new wing, the culmination of 16.5m redevelopment project.

Before leaving Dorset, Her Majesty will also open a new energy centre at Goldy's Farm Shop.
